1st Dentist Visit

Olivia had her first dentist visit and she did great. We talked about the dentist a little bit the night before and told her what the dentist would be doing when we went. Luckily for us our dentist is a really good friend of ours and Olivia was very excited just to be able to see him.

We showed up and Olivia was able to sit next to me while I had my cleaning first. She quickly got up and held my hand and told me not to be scared and that it would only hurt a little bit. It was pretty cute.

It was then her turn and she did amazing. She wasn't scared at all and was super excited to get a new toothbrush at the end.

This was after she was all done. She was so proud of herself and wanted to show me her clean teeth.

When we got home she quickly explained to CC that she couldn't touch her teeth because she just had them cleaned and didn't want her to get them dirty.

We were proud of our brave little girl.

Beard or No Beard, You Decide...

Recently Dallin got tired of shaving and decided to grow a beard. I have been asking him to do this basically since the day we got married. He had a few moments in college when he built houses that he would grow a little here or there, but had to shave as soon as school started back up. This time he really let it grow.

I loved it!!

The day he decided to shave again was a sad day in our house. I trained Olivia to tell Daddy how sad she would be if he shaved his beard off. Eventually that day did come though.

After he shaved he came out to talk to me. I was bugged and wouldn't even look at him. When I finally did I saw this. Can you say, "Creepy!"

Now you be the judge..

No Place Like The Beach

The beach has been calling my name since last summer ended. Here in northern California the "beaches" don't always have great beach weather. This summer I made Dallin promise that if the weather looked good we would drop everything and head out so I could get my "sun medicine". We have taken advantage of it a few times this summer already and it has been so nice to see my girls enjoy a past time of mine that I loved so much.

Olivia begged me to make her into a sand mermaid
She would just bury her whole body in the sand if we would let her

I told Dallin that I wanted him to dig a hole, put a shower curtain liner in it and fill it with water so the girls could have their own little swimming pool. After convincing him I wasn't crazy and the girls would love it he got to work.

The girls were in heaven. So many people stopped by to admire our pool. Dallin agrees that we may have to do this every time we go.

We have also visited the pool a few times to cool off from the summer heat.

Cathrynn was so excited and had so much fun that she eventually just conked out.

Summer Fun

Where has the time gone?!?! I feel like Christmas ended just last week and now we are half way through the year. I wish time could just slow down so I can savor some of these fun times.

We have been so busy this summer and things are going to get a little crazier before they slow down. I have about 10 posts that I would like to do, but I am going to try to cram them into fewer so here we go.

Summer time has caused us to find reasons to leave our tiny apartment. It is so hot and boring for two little girls to be inside all day. We visited Ardenwood Farm, a small historic farm that allows kids to see and explore what happens at a farm, feed the animals and go on a buggy ride.

We also have been taking advantage of all the local parks. Our favorite park is right in the parking lot of the library so we head over there at least once a week to get our wiggles out and enjoy some good books.

One of our favorite family activities is going to the Drive-In in San Jose. Any time there is a new kids movies out we head over there and if we plan it right the girls are asleep by the time our movie starts. We usually get a cheap pizza and head over early to have a family picnic in the car. The tickets are for two movies, they are half the price of tickets at the theaters, the girls are free and we don't have to pay a babysitter or worry about the girls bothering others. Olivia will talk about it for weeks after.
